Nani offered to Monaco

Monaco has been offered the chance to buy Manchester United winger Nani.

Monaco sporting director Vadim Vasilyev claims the club have been offered the chance to signManchester United winger Nani.

The Portugal international's future at Old Trafford remains in doubt following the arrival of new manager David Moyes.

Nani has a year left to run on his current deal and the big-spending French outfit could offer him a lucrative move to the principality.

Claudio Ranieri has already splashed the cash by acquiring the likes of Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho, Eric Abidal and Jeremy Toulalan.

And Vasilyev has not ruled out a bid for the 26-year-old towards the end of the summer transfer window.

"He has been proposed to us," Vasilyev told French newspaper L'Equipe. "He is a very good player, but there have been no talks so far.

"We have already changed our group quite a bit and we also want to offer opportunities to our young players.

"We still have time to make a few alterations before the end of the transfer window, if needed."

Reina blasts Liverpool over loan move

Pepe Reina has joined Napoli on loan but wanted to stay at Liverpool

Pepe Reina has criticized Liverpool for their handling of his loan move to Napoli.

In an open letter on his website, the Spain international claims he was not informed of the season-long loan to the Serie A side until after the deal was completed.

Reina was linked with a move to Barcelona last season and Reds boss Brendan Rodgers explained that speculation led to him swooping for Sunderlandgoalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

However, Reina says he told the club that he would be interested in extending his contract at Anfield if an offer from Barcelona was not forthcoming.

"If I have one regret, it is the way that I am leaving," said the 30-year-old. "It is only natural that I would be disappointed that the Liverpool management agreed to loan me to Napoli without telling me first.

"I thought that I deserved better than that even though I understand that difficult decisions have to be taken in football.

"A lot has been made about me informing the club that if an offer came in from Barcelona that I would have liked them to consider it. But I had also spoken to the club about the possibility of extending my contract if the offer was not made.

"I told the manager that I wanted to play for Liverpool and that Barcelona would only become an option for me if the opportunity arrived, like the rumours said it would, as it would be a chance for me to go back home.

"When it didn't come I was happy to fight for my place so I was surprised that Liverpool decided it was in the club's interests to send me to Napoli instead.

"Reina says that it will be a "strange feeling" to not be a Liverpool player next season but hopes he can return to the club once his loan deal with Napoli expires.

"My children consider Liverpool to be their home and hopefully their love for the city and also for the club will only grow while we are away," he said.

"I would have liked to have been able to say goodbye in a different way but because of the way the move came about this was not possible.

"Maybe in the near future I can do it properly so that I can show my appreciation to you but all I would ask now is that you keep on inspiring the manager and the players just like you always have done and help Liverpool to become the club that you deserve once again.

"I would like nothing better than to come back at the end of my year away and for Liverpool to be back where they belong."

Reina also thanked the Liverpool fans and believes the club can challenge for major honours this season.

He said: "The supporters deserve the best of times and it would give me so much pleasure to see Liverpool back where they belong, challenging for trophies and getting back into the top four.

"That was where the club was when I first arrived and although I am leaving a different club, one with new owners, a new manager, new players and new challenges, I honestly believe that Liverpool can reach those levels again."

Moyes upbeat over new season

Manchester United boss David Moyes speaks to the press in Hong Kong.

Manchester United boss David Moyes is confident his team will be among the honors again this season even if they fail to land their transfer targets.

United have been unsuccessful in their pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, and appear unlikely to get the player.

Moyes is apparently interested in Everton duo Leighton Baines and Maroune Fellaini, although he has still to approach his former club regarding the duo.

And while Wayne Rooney is unsettled, he remains at Old Trafford, meaning only Paul Scholes has left the club this summer.

Moyes, preparing his team for Monday night's friendly against Kitchee FC in Hong Kong, insists he has great faith in the pool of players that strolled to the title last season.

"This is the squad that finished 11 points clear at the top of the league last season so I am confident in the squad," he said.

"But even without additions this squad will be tough opponents for any team - they will be looking at Manchester United.

"We know we will be challenged by everybody, every game we play."

Besiktas still wants Adebayor

Besiktas remain keen on signing Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor if they can escape a ban for alleged match-fixing.

Adebayor's future at Tottenham has been the subject of intense speculation all summer with Spurs thought to be in the market for striking reinforcements.

Besiktas have confirmed their interest in Adebayor, but fear a ban from European competition will scupper their chances of landing the former Arsenal and Manchester City man.

Besiktas face a ban from the 2013-14 Europa League for alleged involvement in match fixing, but they have appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and are confident of getting the decision overturned.

If the club are successful in their appeal Besiktas president, Fikret Orman, has revealed he is ready to fly to London to tie up a deal for Adebayor.

"We are interested in Adebayor, the transfer could still go ahead," Orman is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror.

"The deal breaker for Adebayor was whether we would play in Europe this season, as soon as we are cleared I will travel to London and complete the deal."

Barcelona in shock move for Man City star

Barcelona made a shock enquiry for Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero earlier this summer, according to reports in Spain.

The Argentine endured a difficult 2012/13 season after what was a stunning debut campaign in English football following his move from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011 - a season which culminated in the title-winning goal against QPR.

And there had been speculation that Real Madrid were considering a bid to bring the 25-year-old back to Spain. But now El Confidencial report that Barcelona made an enquiry earlier this summer - one that was immediately rejected by City.

The newspaper reports that Barcelona President Sandro Rossell was keen on Aguero despite signing Neymar, with the Argentine seen as a direct replacement for David Villa.

Yet City boss Manuel Pellegrini made it clear that he sees Aguero as an integral part of his side at the Etihad and refused to countenance a sale. And Barcelona appeared to accept their decision and moved on to other targets.
