Report: World-record bid for Bale

Real Madrid has reportedly submitted a world-record bid for Gareth Bale.

Real Madrid have made a world record bid of over £85m to Tottenham for Gareth Bale, according to reports.

The bid has been on the table for over a week and Bale is aware of it and is becoming more frustrated with the situation.

The bid does not include any Real Madrid players moving to Spurs as part of a package.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is understood to be currently in Miami and his and the club's stance - that the Wales international is not for sale - has not changed.

Bale has so far kept his feelings to himself, making no public declaration about what he wants to happen next.

Tottenham and Bale are back from the Asia Trophy and will resume training on Wednesday.

Cisse returns to Newcastle training

Papiss Cisse resolved his shirt kit sponsor dispute with Premier League club Newcastle.

Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse is glad to be able to concentrate on football again after his exile from the squad came to an end.

The Senegal international missed the club's training camp in Portugal after refusing to wear the club's Wonga-sponsored shirt or training kit because of his religious beliefs. Cisse hopes his self-imposed absence will not be a problem and hopes to have his fitness levels up toPremier League standards well before the start of the season on Aug. 19 at Manchester City.

"It has been a very difficult time for me and the club, and also for the fans," Cisse said. "I have had some useful discussions with my club, my family and Islamic teachers in the last few weeks. After a huge amount of thought and reflection, I have made the decision to follow my teammates and wear the kit.

"Now I think it is important for the team and the fans that we concentrate 100 per cent on football. Although I did not go to Portugal on the training camp, I was back here working hard on my fitness and preparing for the start of the new season.

"Since then, it has been great to be training with my teammates again. I feel great and ready to go, and cannot wait to be out there against St Mirren on Tuesday and to play my part for the team."

Photographs published in a national newspaper last week showing the frontman at Aspers Casino did little to strengthen his case with gambling also prohibited by his religion. But Newcastle reached an agreement with the 28-year old to settle the dispute.

The news will come as a major boost to manager Alan Pardew, who was already looking to recruit two strikers this summer before the Cisse problem emerged. It coincided with speculation that Russian clubs Anzhi Makhachkala and Rubin Kazan were ready to make lucrative offers in a bid to lure Cisse to eastern Europe.

Cisse arrived at St. James' Park in a £9million switch from German side Freiburg in January last year and was an instant hit as he scored 13 goals in his first 14 appearances. However, he was only able to manage the same number for the entire campaign as the Magpies, who lost his strike-partner Demba Ba to Chelsea during the winter transfer window.

The club have been linked for much of the summer with Aston Villa's out-of-favor England striker Darren Bent, and more recently with Lyon's Bafetimbi Gomis. Cisse is expected to rejoin the squad for full training having missed the tour of Portugal due to the issue.

Klopp fails in Kagawa bid

Japan international Shinji Kagawa joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp has confirmed he failed in an attempt to bring Shinji Kagawa back fromManchester United.

Kagawa left Dortmund for United last summer after enjoying a successful two-year spell at Signal Iduna Park.

The Japan international endured a frustrating first season at Old Trafford, struggling to hold down a regular place in the United side due to injuries.

Kagawa has been linked with a move back to Dortmund this summer and Klopp admits he spoke to the playmaker, but that he wants to stay with the Premier League champions.

"This is not an issue for him this year, not even for us," Klopp told Sky Deutschland.

"It was clear relatively quickly, Shinji wants to prevail this year at Manchester United. I did not expect a different answer, you just have to ask even once."

Moyes urges fans to show patience

Manchester United boss David Moyes before the friendly against Kitchee.

New Manchester United manager David Moyes hopes the club's supporters show patience during his first season in charge at Old Trafford.

Moyes is still settling into his post at Old Trafford after replacing Sir Alex Ferguson in June, and some fans are already questioning the club's lack of transfer activity since his arrival.

But the former Everton boss believes a sense of perspective is required as he sets about stamping his own mark at the club.

"If you win one game folk will think you are good. If you lose one folk will think you are rubbish," said Moyes.

"You hope there is a little bit of sense and people understand where you are going. It is a big job. It is a new job. It will take time, as it would for anybody else."

And Moyes is adamant United can compete in the transfer market despite even more competition with the riches now flowing in France at Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco.

"That is not something Manchester United are frightened of," Moyes added. "Manchester United are more than happy to compete with all of the teams.

"There has been a change in the dynamic because of PSG coming on the scene recently. That has altered things.

"But Manchester United will always compete. One thing it has got is the history. It has got the name. It has got the success. That is a big pull for any player."
